Louis and I were very good friends right through HS having grown up within 2 houses of each other.  We played football together in HS and each of us received a football scholarship to college.  Louis went to the University of South Carolina and I went to Syracuse.  On the weekend that he and Traver McCotter were killed in that tragic car accident on the NJ Turnpike, I had hitch-hiked home from Syracuse and had gotten a ride to the Port Authority in NYC.  I remember that day very clearly, having gotten on the bus to Montclair and seeing the man in the seat in front of me hold up the newspaper with the picture of Louis and Traver on the front page along with the details of the accident.  It was a tragic event that hurt all of us who knew Louis and Traver as either close friends and/or as classmates.  They were both taken from us way too soon but they will never be forgotten for who they were while they were with us.  God Bless them both.

Well said, Vince...ironically I happened to come home from U of Maryland that very weekend and was greeted with the tragic news.  Good guys, Traver and Lou "Capoo," as he was dubbed by Vinnie Russo, or was it Arthur Thompson?

Louis was one of my best friends in high school. I spent alot of time in both the Chevy Impala and the VW Bug he drove. Most nights the summer before our senior year, shortly after I got home from work, unannounced I would hear a car roar down the steet and a horn blast. Louis drove toward the end of the block, turned around and expected me to be there waiting for him. I always was. We had alot of good times together and I expected to have many more.
