Joe and I have been friends since Junior High. We spent lots of nights cruising Montclair together. He and I and David Carey had an informal band (Joe would be on the drums) and would practice at Joe's house. We weren't very good. My wife and I attended Joe and Judy's wedding in West Virginia over 50 years ago and recently went to their 50th wedding anniversary. Senior week at the shore was at Joe's house down by Tom's River and we had a blast, not sure whether Joe's parents knew we were there. We will all miss him!
I was so saddened to hear of Joe's passing. I was able to talk with him a bit at the 50th Reunion and to meet his lovely wife Judy. My high school memories of Joe are of a really sweet guy, with sort of a shy manner and soft spoken. Also of being one of Arty Autorino's best friends. Because of that friendship, I did get to know him a bit and I think Arty and I even double dated with him and his date ( sorry don't remember who that might have been). He also had beautiful eyes. Yes, we did have a good time at Joe's parent's shore house after graduation! You are missed Joe.
