Arthur "Arty" Byrd Brown Jr., of Hillside, N.J., formerly of Montclair, N.J., passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Monday, Dec. 30, at New Hope Baptist Church, 144 Norman St., East Orange, N.J. Services are immediately after at 12 noon. Interment is at Rosedale Cemetery, Orange, N.J. Arrangements are by Martin's Home For Service Inc., 48 Elm St., Montclair, N.J. -

Arthur Byrd Bown and I remained friends after High School,and ended up living in the same town, Hillside, NJ.. We kept in touch with each other, especially on our birthdays. I was quite upset when I found out he passed away on 12/21/2013 from a fatal heart attack.

Bird was one of my best friends, and a good family friend. We stayed in contact until the end. I will miss him.
Allen Wayne Richardson
Byrd and I met in high school. We became very good friends. He was my road buddy. After high school & college we became roomates until he went to Vietnam. I will always consider him as one of my best friends.
