I was a student at MSU when I passed the funeral procession of Richard Carlson. I stopped, cried and said a silent prayer for the deceased and all the others boys protecting us. Later, I found out it was Richard Carlson
Thank you for your service, Richard. I'm sorry that you had to pay the Ultimate Sacrifice in that stupid war that defined our generation. Rest in Peace!

Rich was my friend an neighbor who I would walk to school with, I knew his Mom Dad and Sister. Rich was a tall lean and a shy guy when we were going to school. I remember seeing Rich for the last time jogging going by my house He was wearing his Marine workout shirt, I did not recognize him at first He stopped and we talked, He was build like a brick house and had a voice that was deep and direct. I was impressed to say the least. He will be remembered with all the others that gave their lives to serve and defend this land that WE call home God bless us all and Thank you RICH my friend and buddy.
