Gaylord was the very first classmate I met in kindergarten at Watchung Elementary School. We remained friends throughout the years. He died a year or two ago in North Carolina. His older brother was in my older brother Charlie's class and his younger brother in my younger brother's class. A good family.

One day in the "coat room" in 3rd grade, Gaylord, a kid with rapid-fire ideas, decided to form a singing group he decided to call "The Swallows".  I was proud to be a founding member until it was discovered that I can't sing.  Gay was nice about it though.  I remember his family well.

Chester Gaylord  Thomas Waters  and I became friends at the young age of 5 years old. We lost touch with each other until High School. I was sad to learn that Gaylord passed away 9/27/2008 in Warrenton, NC.He had served time in the Marines in Viet Nam.

At our 25th reunion, Gaylord & I had an endearing conversation about his sweet uncle, "Mr. Green."  He was our mailman for many yrs. when we lived on Parkway across from Edgemont Park.  Mr. Green always had something cute to say with his great sense of humor.  (He had passed away by then, but Gaylord & I reminisced about him.)  I am so sad to hear that Gaylord is no longer "with us."  He inherited his uncle's sense of humor!!!

Gaylord was a classmate of mine at Watching Elementary School and I remember him well. I still have class pictures which included Gaylord, as well as other classmates Alan Razdow, Michael Starr, Tom Wellhofer, Dennis Menton, Sandy Saunders, Charlie Flatt, and many more.

"Mud" and I grew up in St. Mark's Methodist church together. He was a greet baseball player who was recruited by the pro's. He was one of  "the boys". I eventually met and married his cousin Joyce. He was one of my best friends and I miss him.

I met Gaylord in first grade at Watchung. I got to know him his mother and two brothers all pretty well. In high school we would spend many hours talking about his love life (like I was capable of offering any meaningful advise). He would often refer to me as "his other half" and even addressed his comments in my yearbook that way. At the 25th reunion, I saw Gaylord just as he was entering the ballroom after driving up from North Carolina. We talked for over 45 minutes. Gaylord served in the Marines during Viet Nam. He told me that when he was returning to the USA he ran into Richard Carlson who was on his way over. He told me that at that moment he felt that Richard was taking his place over there. We were all affected by hearing of Richard's passing, but none in the way Gaylord was.

Mud was a Great athlete and a Great person in general.  He was extremely intelligent and a go getter.  He was instrumental in my attaing a position with IBM.  I will miss him dearly.  Rest in Peace  (Mud).
